Your questions, answered.
The questions people ask us most, in plain words.
Does it cost anything to work with you?
No. You never pay us for our help. When you enroll in a plan, the insurance company pays us, and your premium is the same whether you enroll with us or on your own.
Do you work for one insurance company?
No. WareCare is an independent agency, so we work with more than one insurance company. We do not offer every plan available in your area, and we will always tell you which companies we represent.
When can I sign up for a Marketplace plan?
Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage runs November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027. Enroll by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. Outside that window, a life change like losing coverage, moving, marriage, or a new baby usually gives you 60 days.
I missed Open Enrollment. What now?
A Special Enrollment Period may still be open to you if your life changed in the last 60 days. Medicaid and ALL Kids take applications all year, and many dental and vision plans can start any month. Call us and we will sort out what is open to you.
When should I sign up for Medicare?
Your Initial Enrollment Period starts three months before the month you turn 65 and ends three months after it. Signing up in the first three months lets your coverage start on the first day of your birthday month. If you or your spouse are still working with job coverage, ask us before you decide on Part B.
What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and a Medicare Supplement?
A Medicare Supplement works alongside Original Medicare: you can see any doctor who takes Medicare, and the Supplement helps pay what Medicare leaves to you. Medicare Advantage is a plan from a private company that contracts with Medicare, usually with a network of doctors and drug coverage included. We walk through both with you.
Can I change my Medicare plan?
Yes, at set times. From October 15 to December 7, you can join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage or drug plan for the next year. From January 1 to March 31, people on a Medicare Advantage plan can make one change. Some life changes open other windows.
Do I have to meet you in person?
No. Many clients meet with Lakila by phone or video. If you would rather sit down together, she meets at coffee shops and libraries around Auburn and Opelika.
What should I have ready?
Nothing, to start a conversation. When you are ready to enroll, it helps to have a list of your doctors and prescriptions, your current insurance card if you have one, and for Marketplace plans, your best estimate of household income for the year. Please do not send health details or ID numbers through the website.
Can you help with Medicaid or ALL Kids?
Yes. We help you understand whether they may fit your family and point you to the official application. Applying is free, there is no fee for our help, and the state decides who qualifies.
Will you still help me after I enroll?
Yes. Support beyond enrollment is part of how WareCare works: questions about your coverage after you enroll, and a fresh look when the next enrollment season comes.
Are you connected with Medicare or the government?
No. WareCare Health Insurance Group is an independent insurance agency. We are not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. For information on all of your Medicare options, you can also contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE.
Still have a question?
No question is too small. Call, or request a time and she will reach out.
